We usually never know when it will be the last time. We take it for granted. The last time you hear their laugh, feel their embrace, kiss soft lips you love. The last time you feel safe in someone's company, the last time you look into their eyes and feel loved and cherished. The last time you will feel a thumb gently brush yours before you're holding hands. You'll never know for sure if it's the last time you'll hear the words "I love you" carried softly on their breath.
This time, I knew it was the last time. The last chance for me to capture Mark's smile, and the last bit of sparkle in his eyes. I cried during the session, I wept after they left, I let the tears slip down my cheeks at his funeral, as I am while typing this blog.
So, cherish the people you love. Don't let them walk away from your life if you love them. Don't push them away because you're scared to let yourself be vulnerable. Just don't do it. Because a day will come and you'll think back and realize you witnessed the last time, and let it slip through your grasp.
